As far as I know if you only have liability and are at fault it doesn’t matter if they have insurance your company pays and your SOL. If you have liability and the uninsured motorist hits you your still SOL. You can sue them but chances are if they don’t have insurance they also don’t have any money.
If any accident is non-fault I don’t think either of you have to pay for the other person but you can try to make them in civil court and vise-versa.

If it is your fault – yes, your liability will still pay the other driver for their damages.
Your negligence caused the accident – not his lack of insurance. Your negligence does not get excused because you were lucky enough to hit someone with out insurance.
Who pays for an accident is determined by who is Negligent. Having or not having insurance does not determine fault.
If you cause an accident and do not have insurance you will be held personally responsible for the damage/injuries you cause.

If you hit someone yes your insurance will pay but if you don’t have collision then you will have to pay for your own vehicle to be repaired.
If you hit an uninsured motorist then your insurance will pay because you hit them but if you were hit by an uninsured motorist then you have to pay a deductible to have your insurance company to fix your car.

Unless you are in the state of Louisiana, your insurance will cover the not at fault vehicle’s damages, regardless of their insurance status. If you haven’t any insurance and are hit by someone, you do not have to pay them if you are not at fault. Once again, unless you are in Louisiana.

Maybe and maybe….. If you hit an uninsured motorist and are at fault your liability insurance will pay for the other car and/or property. If you do not have insurance and you are fault, you do have to personally pay for all damages to another person and/or property
